This system utilises an adaptive intelligence algorithm to scrutinise tissues by optimising millions of parameters during a patient examination, thereby eliminating irrelevant frequencies in returned signals.

Neuromedical Systems, Inc. (New Jersey) uses an application of neural networks to scan Pap smears and identify cells for review during cancer screening.

Apps like Babylon in the UK use AI to give medical consultation based on personal medical history and common medical knowledge. Users report their symptoms into the app, which uses speech recognition to compare against a database of illnesses. Babylon then offers a recommended action, taking into account the user’s medical history.

The startup has developed Molly, a digital nurse to help people monitor patient’s condition and follow up with treatments, between doctor visits. The program uses machine learning to support patients, specialising in chronic illnesses.

Developing pharmaceuticals through clinical trials can take more than a decade and cost billions of dollars. Making this process faster and cheaper could change the world. Amidst the recent Ebola virus scare, a program powered by AI was used to scan existing medicines that could be redesigned to fight the disease.

The program found two medications that may reduce Ebola infectivity in one day, when analysis of this type generally takes months or years – a difference that could mean saving thousands of lives.

Some of the key influencing factors like maturity attained by the AI systems, user acceptance, and glitches in
communications along with technical infrastructure continue to stand as barriers to the commercialisation opportunities that currently exist for AI. However, given that ongoing innovations in this domain are moving so fast from academia and theory into reality are proof of the growing momentum in this field.

CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, USA, October 31, 2018 / — On the 30th of October the Clearwater Community Volunteers Center held its monthly Charity Networking Luncheon for Tampa Bay nonprofits to network and form new partnerships. The luncheon was the most diverse to date with 13 different nonprofits in attendance whose activities vary from disaster preparedness, environmental restoration, to educating children.

“The Clearwater Community Volunteers Center works with over 45 different nonprofits and the luncheon is another way for them to meet one another.” said Clemence Chevrot, Director for the Clearwater Community Volunteers Center.

Ms. Chevrot was the luncheon’s keynote speaker. Ms. Chevrot has worked in the non-profit field for the past five years, both across Europe and here in the United States. This work has included human rights advocacy and disaster relief. After the complimentary lunch, Ms. Chevrot delivered a short workshop on how to get into communication with anyone. Wanting to get the attendees into immediate action, her workshop concluded with an exercise where guests used this knowledge to get an otherwise non-talkative person to communicate with them.

Ms. Chevrot said, “It can sometimes be frustrating trying to communicate with another person who doesn’t want to talk. However, communication is vital to the smooth running of any non-profit organization – it’s how you form new partnerships, get new volunteers for your cause or getting donations. Like philosopher L. Ron Hubbard once wrote, ‘A man is as dead as he can’t communicate. He is alive as he can communicate.’ These guests have learned a skill that enables them to openly communicate with anyone and move forward to accomplish their group’s mission.”

In recognition of the DHS National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (October 2018), Quince Orchard High School hosted the Stop.Think.Connect presentation.



(Gaithersburg, MD. October 25) In recognition of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, Quince Orchard High School hosted the cybersecurity awareness presentation “Stop.Think.Connect”. Contributing to this presentation was Nenette Day, Assistant Special Agent with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Scott Rebein, Licensed Private Investigator with SFR Consulting & Advisory, and Ed Samuels, Chief Technology Officer of Auxilium Technology. Together these presenters provided their extensive experience and knowledge in areas of cybersecurity to help students better protect themselves against pervasive digital threats. National Cyber Security Awareness Month is a national initiative that helps build awareness among the public for digital safety and security.

Keeping Students Safe

Students attending the presentation learned about best practices in digital security as it relates to their daily use of social media, websites, and devices. The mission of the presenters was to speak directly to the specific digital threats posed to high school students and provide measures that they can take to minimize vulnerability and exposure.

The presentation developed by Auxilium Technology took a holistic approach to cybersecurity, covering issues of both technical and social nature. Topics covered ranged from social media etiquette, mobile device security, to address the pervasive threat of identity
theft to youth today.

Each presenter provided insights based on their respective areas of expertise, and in general, contributed to each topic of discussion. Special Agent Nenette Day spoke about her experience in investigating threats on social media posed by falsified accounts that prey on students and forge their identities. Private Investigator Scott Rebein spoke to the importance of online reputation management and the necessity of being aware of your digital footprint. Moreover, Auxilium Technology's CTO Ed Samuels provided knowledge in technical practices for securing your information on devices and websites, and vulnerabilities.

The presentation also featured a question and answer portion that allowed students to pose questions to each presenter. Audience members were able to ask questions of specific interest to them, such as number versus pattern lock device security. Questions about Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) and the dark web were of particular interest to audiences’ members. Students were able to engage in conversation with presenters and take away valuable information that can help them in their daily lives.

Another objective of this presentation was to provide insights into the professions linked to the cybersecurity industry.
