A Scientology Volunteer Minister and the women of local healthcare clinics mobilize to provide help to those affected by recent Jakarta floods.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, February 28, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — In Jakarta since January when New Year’s flooding paralyzed the Indonesia capital, Lead Scientology Volunteer Minister Abdi Surbakti was preparing to return home Tuesday when two coastal cyclones inundated the city, once again leaving it incapacitated.

But where he was on his own when he began providing relief in early January, today he is joined by dozens of volunteers he has trained in the basic skills of the Volunteer Minister (VM).

Surbakti has been working with the women who volunteer at local “posyadus,” an acronym for Pos Pelayanan Terpadu (integrated service post in Indonesian). Posyandus were created in the early 1980s to establish clinics staffed by volunteers who extend basic healthcare to the nation’s most vulnerable—the children and pregnant women. Although lacking funds and resources, the more than 260,000 posyandus comprise a grassroots institution that brings help throughout the country.

Over the past several weeks, Abdi has delivered dozens of seminars in local centers and has trained hundreds of local posyandu volunteers in the basic technology of Scientology assists. Assists are techniques developed by Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard that speed healing by addressing the emotional and spiritual factors in stress and trauma. Easy to learn, assists are vital skills for these volunteers, who can now use them to help those who come to them seeking relief.

Surbakti described one seminar where he was welcomed enthusiastically by a posyandu located in a village mosque. That morning, the volunteers were providing care to local babies. After they finished their work, the workshop began, with 10 volunteers taking part in the training. “Through the afternoon you could see a gradual change in the women—it was as though a burden was lifting and they were more at peace,” said Surbakti.

“I never thought I could feel like this,” said the leader of one of the posyandus who received an assist during a workshop. “This is new for me and it feels good.” “Thank you for the knowledge, which is very needed to serve the villagers,” said another volunteer, who now sees assists as a vital way to help the elderly and those who are disoriented.

One woman’s grandson came home sick with a fever which persisted for three days. After she learned to provide assists, she used the technique with him. When they started he was sweating profusely. Then he began to relax and he finally fell asleep. When he woke up, his temperature was normal. The next day he felt fine and returned to school.

“This is a necessary program and must be continued for my villagers,” said the leader of the neighborhood watch who organized a local workshop. “This is a form of humanitarian aid that will bring harmony and kinship to those who participate. It doesn’t take a lot to do this but the results are huge—I’m just beginning to realize how much this means.” The only problem the workshop posed to this village leader was that people were upset when they heard it was scheduled on a weekday because they couldn’t attend, so he resolved it by setting up another assist workshop for Sunday.

Posyandu volunteers who have trained on assist technology are now wearing the signature yellow T-shirts of the Volunteer Ministers movement. And while the new floods are a terrible challenge and hardship, the VMs are optimistic. Possessing technology they can use to provide relief, they too now live by the motto of the Scientology Volunteer Minister: “Something can be done about it.”

The Church of Scientology Volunteers Minister program is a religious social service created in the mid-1970s by Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard. Anyone of any culture or creed may train as a Volunteer Minister and use these tools to help their families and communities. The Church provides free online training on the Volunteer Ministers website.

Electoral College Documentary to Screen at Denver’s EFPalooza

Movie Poster for Winner Take All"

Winner Take All screens March 21st at Denver’s Historic Bug Theater

“Winner Take All,” a film about the U.S. electoral system, was named “official selection” of the Emerging Filmmakers Project 2020 festival

As adopted by 15 states and the District of Columbia and under ongoing consideration by Virginia’s legislature, the compact fully preserves the Electoral College.”

— Michael Steele, Former chairman of the Republican National Committee

DENVER, COLORADO, USA, February 28, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Denver, Colo., February 28, 2020 / EINPresswire.com / — Colacino Productions LLC, in association with Winner Take All Documentary LLC is pleased to announce that the documentary film, “Winner Take All,” (winnertakeallfilm.com) has been named an “official selection” of the 2020 EFPalooza Film Festival (http://www.efpdenver.com/2020-efpalooza-film-festival/, https://www.facebook.com/events/229202978128408/). The event is a three-day film festival celebrating the best of the Emerging Filmmaker’s Project, the home of Denver’s independent film scene since 2002. This year’s event will be held March 19th, 20th and 21st at Denver’s historic Bug Theatre. “Winner Take All” will screen in the 1:00 p.m. “Saturday Afternoon Shorts” block on March 21st.

“Winner Take All” explains how the frequently misunderstood Electoral College works, why its election results have conflicted with the popular vote, and a national movement afoot to change the way it works through an interstate compact. “As adopted by 15 states and the District of Columbia and under ongoing consideration by Virginia’s legislature, the compact fully preserves the Electoral College,” wrote Michael Steele in a letter published in The Wall Street Journal on February 20, 2020. “The problem isn’t the Electoral College itself” says filmmaker, Don Colacino. “It’s the way states have chosen to allocate votes,” a key concept addressed in the film by Constitutional scholars, legislators, and the founding documents themselves.

With growing interest in the topic, EFPalooza is the third festival to recognize the film in the lead-up to the 2020 election. The League of Women Voters is also screening the film at various voter outreach events in Colorado and Maine and is also available on Prime Video in the U.S. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081N215SX and the UK https://www.amazon.com.uk/dp/B081N215SX.

More information can be found at winnertakeallfilm.com. Winner Take All Documentary LLC created the film in association with Colacino Productions LLC (colacinoproductions.com), a Business-to-Business (B2B) film production company focused on documentary, commercial, and industrial films. The company provides both documentary- and narrative-style content creation and production services.

Second State awarded a grant by Web3 foundation

Second State awarded a grant to bring next-gen Ethereum infrastructure to Polkadot ecosystem

AUSTIN, TEXAS, UNITED STATES, February 28, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Web3 Foundation has awarded Second State awarded a grant to bring next-gen Ethereum infrastructure to Polkadot ecosystem a leading cloud and blockchain infrastructure company, a grant to bring the Ethereum flavored WebAssembly (Ewasm) virtual machine to the Polkadot ecosystem.

The virtual machine is a key infrastructure component for public blockchains. It allows any user from the public to submit untrusted code to the blockchain platform, in the form of smart contracts, and pay for its execution based on resource consumption. The Ethereum flavored WebAssembly (Ewasm) virtual machine is posed to be the dominant virtual machine in the upcoming Ethereum 2.0 blockchain platform.

Through the Web3 Foundation grant, Second State will create extensions to its high-performance WebAssembly virtual machine, the Second State VM (SSVM). Those extensions would allow the SSVM to function as a blockchain virtual machine in accordance with the Ewasm specification. It will develop the necessary software to bootstrap and load SSVM as a Substrate module. The SSVM-Ewasm Substrate module allows developers to create blockchains that can deploy and execute Ethereum smart contracts in the Polkadot ecosystem.

This project will add value to both the Ethereum and Polkadot ecosystems. Ethereum developers will have more choices in deploying their applications, and the Polkadot ecosystem will be able to directly leverage efforts from the large Ethereum developer and tooling communities.

Second State is a recognized leader in virtual machine software. The Second State VM (SSVM) is a general purpose and highly extensible virtual machine optimized for server-side and cloud applications. It is compliant to the WebAssembly specification, and provides a safe and high-performance runtime engine for native code and user-submitted code in cloud environments. For example, through collaboration with Qualcomm, the SSVM can natively access Qualcomm CPU's built-in AI inference hardware; the SSVM can also be accessed from application frameworks such as the NodeJS. The extensibility makes the SSVM a great choice for Ewasm.

In addition to the runtime, Second State also creates the complete developer toolchain and host environments around the virtual machine. Its SOLL compiler project is the leading LLVM toolchain for the Solidity and YUL languages, and it was recognized by awards from the Ethereum Foundation and the Panvala DAO. The BUIDL IDE is a leading developer tool for creating smart contracts that run on blockchains or in the cloud.

New Drone Pilot Training Program Builds Skills for the Renewable Energy Industry

HeatSpring, Little Arms, and Unmanned Experts have built this unmanned aircraft commercial operations course especially for renewable energy firms.

ANN ARBOR, MI, USA, February 28, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — The new “Drone Pilot Boot Camp + FAA Part 107 Exam Prep” is a collaboration between three companies: HeatSpring, Little Arms, and Unmanned Experts. They’ve built this unmanned aircraft commercial operations course especially for engineering, construction and renewable energy firms.

Keven Gambold is the instructor. Formerly a combat pilot for the British Royal Air Force, Keven has spent the past eight years developing training programs for drone pilots with Unmanned Experts.

Logging flight time is critical for a great course. Little Arms is the software firm behind the top-rated Zephyr drone simulation software. Zephyr works across any platform and has a built-in LMS that allows Keven to review student progress and coach each individual student on their flying. Flying the Zephyr simulations with Keven’s oversight is an incredible way to build skills quickly and efficiently.

Kyle Bishop, CEO at Little Arms says, "We're proud to announce our new partnership with HeatSpring and Unmanned Experts. The UAS industry is a constantly changing place, establishing effective and standardized training is a great way to help drive the industry forward as a whole."

HeatSpring brings twelve years of technical online education and a deep understanding of what the market expects from a great course. They’ve spent two years designing this course and finding the right partnerships to make it happen.

“We looked at more than a dozen drone flight simulators and Zephyr was the clear winner for us,” according to Brian Hayden, co-founder at HeatSpring. “It’s built for a training environment and able to work on any machine.”

The course is great for anybody who wants to become a drone pilot, but the primary aim of the course is to unlock new opportunities for engineering, construction, and renewable energy firms. Drones are a powerful and relatively inexpensive way to increase revenue and lower costs on projects big and small.

The next course begins in April 2020 – students who enroll get immediate access to their Zephyr software program. Students who enroll in this session also receive a free FlySky FS-i6S Transmitter.

Margaret Carter of The Bright Life Coach to be Featured on Close Up Radio

ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND, UNITED STATES, February 28, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — The pain of depression is more painful than anything I can imagine, but your diagnosis and medications enable you to do the work to get better.

Margaret Carter is The Bright Life Coach, where she specializes in empowering people with depression who are under the care of a psychiatrist.

“I'm an empowerment coach and I really specialize in resilience, overcoming pain, back into happiness” says Margaret. “I will consistently and masterfully help you grow into a person that you never knew was possible.”

Margaret’s story is one of resilience. She fell into a deep, dark depression in her twenties and struggled with it for decades.

“I was in so much pain I couldn't talk to anyone. I struggled with depression for another 20 years on different types of medicines. I struggled in my business. I was diagnosed with cancer. I didn't have the energy to fight anymore. That’s when I hired a coach.”

Everyone that has achieved great things has done so with talented and dedicated support. Margaret’s coach taught her an entirely new way of seeing herself in the world. That’s when miraculous changes started to take place.

“I did all of this positive work on my mind,” she recalls. “I paid close attention to a really loving view of spirituality that was nonjudgmental and loving and forgiving of myself and others. I started getting off medications and my psychiatrist was just blown away. Then I met my guy, which I never thought that was going to happen. We live together now, and we've never had a fight.”

Margaret realized it was time to help others to turn their life around in powerful and meaningful ways. She decided to become a coach to teach people like her how to overcome depression.

“To be an empowerment coach, you have to teach excellence,” says Margaret. “Therapists are good at analyzing the past. Psychiatrists offer diagnoses and medication. Coaches are great at helping you discover what your dreams, and what you want to achieve and then help you figure out how you want to do it.”

Margaret says you can bring more peace and joy than you ever imagined through life coaching.

“The language you use is what you think; what you think is what you attract,” says Margaret. “I created the depression by thinking all of these awful things about myself and believing them. My train of thought was really self-destructive. “The pathways and my brain are so deep I will be on medication for the rest of my life, but I started changing the language, and gradually, I overcame my depression. I believe my clients can too.”

Close Up Radio will feature Margaret Carter in an interview with Jim Masters on March 3rd at 4pm EST

Adrienne Rubin, Acclaimed Author, Details Over Coming Difficult Life Experiences in the Jewelry Business

Adrienne Rubin, Acclaimed Author

Diamond and Scoundrels: My Life in the Jewelry Business

“Because I was naive, I made many wrong decisions, and more than once I trusted the wrong people.” – Adrienne Rubin.

LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, February 27, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Adrienne Rubin once worked out of her car, pulling a suitcase loaded with silver, gold, and gemstone jewelry, which she sold wholesale to stores like Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus. Adrienne has stated that by chance, on a vacation to Mexico, she fell into the jewelry business when she and her husband Stanford reconnected with the owner of a high-end silver store, and the store owner sought legal advice on problems with a Los Angeles Jewelry wholesaler.

“I was feeling bereft,” states Adrienne. “Our two children were in school, and my brief career as a school teacher had not satisfied my ambitions or creativity. My volunteer work with a local hospital to compile two cookbooks for fundraising had ended, and I was at loose ends. I thought, ‘I’ll sell silver jewelry for him!’ It wasn’t easy AT ALL, but I learned, and grew the business from part-time to full-time. I did it!”

It seems that this path was destined for Adrienne, as eventually the company mushroomed to include gold chains from the downtown LA Jewelry District, then gemstone jewelry found at jewelry shows in Hong Kong and Italy. However, this success came at a cost as Adrienne found herself to be naive enough to believe that anyone who bought her jewelry was as trustworthy as her father, a mistake that shaped Adrienne’s future. “Because I was naive, I made many wrong decisions, and more than once I trusted the wrong people,” claims Adrienne. “Yet each time I fell, I got right back up again. Giving up was never an option. To get to where you want to go, you cannot let fear of failure get in your way. For me, every challenge was an opportunity to soar even higher than before.” It's enough to say that after everything, Adrienne found out there are crooks out there, and she was adamant that dishonest people would NOT profit from her ever again.

From the age of two Adrienne grew up in Beverly Hills after moving from Chicago with her family. She graduated from Beverly Hills High School and spent a year in Lausanne, Switzerland, attending the School of Modern French where she learned to speak French fluently. She completed her college studies at UC Berkeley, and graduated from UCLA with a Master of Teaching degree. She married Stanford Rubin, a relationship that lasted more than 50 years. Adrienne and Stan raised their daughter Pamela and son Randall, and enjoy traveling with their three grandsons and cooking for them; Grand-Mère's most desirable meal is her tender brisket.

Adrienne has certainly made a name for herself in the jewelry business and as an author, but she also is involved in humanitarian efforts. In October 2019, the Los Angeles Arthritis Foundation honored Adrienne with the Jane Wyman Humanitarian Award as their top L.A fundraiser. For ten years now, Adrienne has been riding her bike in the California Coast Classic of the Arthritis Foundation, an eight-day cycling trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles along California's coastline.

“I was a total neophyte when the bicycle tour was proposed as a fundraiser. I had to purchase a bicycle and take lessons to learn how to operate the gears,” states Adrienne. “Approximately 350 cyclists participate each year. My husband has been challenged with arthritis since his 30s, and had both hips replaced plus numerous back surgeries for arthritis complications. He served as chairman of the national Arthritis Foundation board of directors. As he became less active in fundraising, I became more involved.”

Adrienne Rubin

“Diamonds and Scoundrels” is a memoir that follows Adrienne Rubin as she first begins in the jewelry business. When Adrienne Rubin enters into the jewelry business in 1970s Los Angeles, she is a maverick in a world dominated by men. She soon meets a young hotshot salesman who doesn’t seem to struggle at all, and when he asks her to be his partner, she is excited to join him. She doesn’t know him well, but she does know his father, and she believes he is as trustworthy as the day is long.

“Diamonds and Scoundrels” shows us how a woman in a man’s world, with tenacity and sheer determination, can earn respect and obtain a true sense of accomplishment. Following Rubin’s experiences in the jewelry industry through the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s—with the ups and downs, good guys and bad—this is a tale of personal growth, of how to overcome challenges with courage and resilience. It’s a story for the woman today who, in addition to a rich family life, seeks a self-realized, fulfilling path toward a life well lived.

“Diamonds & Scoundrels is an incredible story of a woman who seemingly had it all but craved purpose. Through determination, boldness, entrepreneurial spirit and sheer will, she built a flourishing business, smashed barriers and proved that no dream is out of reach if you simply refuse to quit,” states Matt Iseman, host of American Ninja Warrior. It seems that this memoir from Adrienne Rubin is one you don’t want to miss out on.

They have owned wineries in Slovenia and the Collio region of Italy,” James says.

His family’s winery background inspired him to become a sommelier and grow his wine collection. “My favorite wines are Napa Cabernet Sauvignons and Pinot noirs from Oregon’s Willamette Valley,” says James Lukezic. How did James Lukezic become a sommelier? He shares a few tips.

For those who wish to become sommeliers, James Lukezic recommends they learn as much as they can about wine. Beginners often like to start writing down notes when tasting wines since it’s one of the essential steps to becoming a sommelier. According to James Lukezic, familiarizing themselves with the most famous wine regions in the world also helps a sommelier in the making.

The French wine region remains one of the top producers in the world, even though wine production in France has gone down by 11% since 2007. James Lukezic, whose family has owned wineries in Italy, mentions Italy remains a large wine producer. Some of the primary grapes in Italy include Prosecco, Barbera, Trebbiano Toscano, and Nero d’Avola. The California one region is one of James Lukezic's favorite regions, and 99% of the wine produced in the United States comes from this area. Argentina has also recently emerged as a top wine producer in the world. Over the last few years, wine production in Argentina has seen a growth of 8%.

James Lukezic mentions traveling to the wine regions is the best way for sommeliers in the making to learn about wine, but it’s not always financially possible. Instead of traveling, potential sommeliers should read books about the major wine regions.

One of the best ways to get their training as a sommelier is by working in the industry. James Lukezic, for example, comes from a background of winemakers. There are many other ways to learn about the industry, such as working at a restaurant, tasting room, wine bar, or catering company. An overlooked skill is often learning the proper way to pour wine, which can be acquired by working in the industry.

Individuals who can to fast track their sommelier skills can enroll in a certificate program. These programs provide them with the hands-on training required to become a professional sommelier.

James Lukezic also enjoys belonging to the United States Polo Association, New York City’s Fencers Club, and the American Helicopter Society.
