National Parks Respond with the Arts ! Another Epic Artist is invited to Gettysburg National Park for Art

National Parks Arts Foundation (NPAF) announce longtime teacher and artist Anne Tait’s residency as the Gettysburg National Military Park artist-in-residence.

WASHINGTON DC, MARYLAND, USA, March 11, 2017 / — Gettysburg National Military Park, in cooperation with the non-profit National Parks Arts Foundation (NPAF) and the Gettysburg Foundation, announce longtime teacher and artist Anne Tait’s residency as the Park’s artist-in-residence beginning in mid-March.

Ms. Tait is currently on sabbatical from her appointment as professor in Visual Art Studies Program at Roger Williams University, where she teaches printmaking and painting. She has a Bachelor’s degree in literature and art history from Bowling Green State University, in printmaking from the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design, and a Master’s degree in painting from American University in Washington, D.C.

Her early work exposed a sinewy, eccentric world of floating forms that pushed the picture plane in an intentionally disorientating setting, intending the purposeful subterfuge to be both mysterious and comedic. While her earlier work addressed the establishment of self from conception to maturity, her more recent work frames these questions by considering the truncation of life and the ending of it. She reflects on the culmination of earthly life through her art, in particular her art inspired by her researches into cemetery imagery, and the burial traditions of the 19th century.

During her time at Gettysburg, Ms. Tait will continue work on a series of embroidered tondi. Ms. Tait is particularly interested in taking inspiration from a particular form of tondi: the ceramic plates depicting the Holy Family that were often given to newly married couples in Italy during the early Renaissance.

Ms. Tait intends draw from the early tondi, with their themes of love and fertility, fundamental themes that can continue to inform her contemporary art. She writes, “I have continued to find the tondo form to be evocative of both life and death, finding the form used to hold images on many gravestones from the nineteenth century.”

Programs like Gettysburg National Military Park’s artist-in-residence series, in which acclaimed artists seek inspiration from the beauty and history of our national parks, and agree to share their ideas with park patrons, represent some of the highest aspirations of the National Park Service. As the park’s superintendent, Ed Clark, explains, “Gettysburg National Military Park can offer the perfect backdrop to provide inspiration for the arts. As the National Park Service strives to connect with new generations, we look forward to leading the arts and interpretation of Gettysburg into the future, while always remembering our mission of preserving history.”

We’ve expanded our Artists-in-Residence programs for 2017, now with 12 artists for 12 months. We are very excited that the National Parks Arts Foundation (NPAF) and the Gettysburg Foundation are supporting this expanded program, which has become a model for artist residencies in all the national parks. The Deadlines are nearing for all 2018 Gettysburg Artist in Residence on April 20th, 2017.

NPAF is looking for all artists, from traditional landscape artists and photographers, to performers, installation artists, and cinematographers, as well as writers, poets, sound artists, and new-arts specialists. Virtually any approach can find a place at Gettysburg — what matters is vision and talent.

For the next two years, we have introduced program themes to the residencies in order to diversify the interconnection of the arts with broader demographics inclusion. The themes are:

U.S. Military Veteran Artists: During January, July and November 2017, Gettysburg’s Artists-in-Residence will be U.S. Military Veterans, bringing a unique perspective to arts in the park.

LiterAudiArts: NPAF’s most fascinating theme focuses on many and all aspects of speech: words, sounds, song, and music. A few examples of this are poetry, screenplays, spoken word, environmental recordings, sound art, wall of sound experimentation.

Alembic Arts (New Media): Alembic Arts include many varied and mixed media expressions: film, images, augmented realities, virtual realities, and any and all combinations of these in themselves, or in combination with classic art media.

Arts Revolver: Open to any and all artistic media including cross-overs or hybrids with any of the other themes.

LiterAudiArts: NPAF’s most fascinating theme focuses on many and all aspects of speech: words, sounds, song, and music. A few examples of this are poetry, screenplays, spoken word, environmental recordings, sound art, wall of sound experimentation.

The National Parks Arts Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to the National Parks of the U.S. by creating dynamic opportunities for artworks that are based in our natural and historic heritage. This project is supported by the Gettysburg Foundation and other generous benefactors. NPAF National Park projects are supported entirely by donation and generous partnerships.

Gettysburg National Military Park is a unit of the National Park Service that preserves, protects and interprets for this and future generations the resources associated with the Battle of Gettysburg during the American Civil War, the Soldiers’ National Cemetery, and their commemorations.

The Gettysburg Artist in Residence programs are supported by the Gettysburg Foundation and other sponsors. All NPAF nation-wide programs are made possible through the philanthropic support of donors ranging from corporate sponsors and small businesses, to art patrons and citizen-lovers of the parks. NPAF is always seeking new partners and donors for its wide-ranging artist-in-residence programs.

San José City College, Ironworkers Union Launch Welding Credit Degree

San Jose City College and Ironworkers Local 377 celebrate new welding program with beam-cutting ceremony.

San José City College and Ironworkers Local 377 celebrate new welding program with beam-cutting ceremony.

Program will help meet demand in the SF Bay Area’s booming construction industry

We’re honored that Local 377 selected San José City College to help provide the facilities and instruction for a new generation of ironworkers.”

— Dr. Byron Clift Breland, SJCC President.

SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, March 9, 2017 / — San José City College (SJCC) is proud to announce the launch of its collaboration with the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental, and Reinforcing Ironworkers Local 377 (Local 377) to offer a credit degree program in welding, intended specifically for apprentices who are on four-year paths to becoming journeymen.

“We’re honored that Local 377 selected San José City College to help provide the facilities and instruction for a new generation of ironworkers," said Dr. Byron Clift Breland, SJCC President. "They are the workers who are constructing the new high-rise buildings going up all over the Bay Area, as well as repairing and maintaining our important network of bridges and other mass transit infrastructure,”

Apprentices are required to attend class four weeks a year, full-time. The union currently has 1,000 apprentices eligible to take this coursework.

"Instruction began on March 6, 2017, in a welding lab built for this purpose,” said Jorge Escobar, SJCC Vice President of Administrative Services. “The facility consists of 20 fully-equipped welding booths, a state-of-the-art air filtration and circulation system, an outdoor yard, adjacent classrooms, and upgraded electrical and mechanical systems.”

The new welding lab at SJCC helps to lift a huge burden off of apprentices living in Santa Clara County who have previously had to commute hours to Benicia in Solano County for the required training.

“To be located here also provides an excellent opportunity to show San José City College students already on campus what a great career ironwork can be,” said Charlie Hernandez, Local 377 Executive Officer.

Ironwork is one of the highest paid trades in the Bay Area with so much work available that union hiring halls sit virtually empty. Planning for the credit degree began four years ago as SJCC officials worked with union leaders to transfer training courses from the North Bay to San José.

North American building trades unions have embarked on an effort to increase the number of U.S. construction industry apprentices. The aim is to provide greater opportunities for people in underserved communities and help them acquire good middle-class jobs in the construction industry.

About San José City College
San José City College’s metropolitan campus is located just minutes from downtown San José off Highway 280. Established in 1921, San José City College offers eleven Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADTs) with guaranteed admission to the California State University System. San José City College is the largest provider of training in manufacturing in Santa Clara County and provides workforce education in Computer Electronics Technology, CNC Machinist, Machine Technology, Entry-Level Machinist, Facilities Maintenance Technology, Laser Technology, Machine Shop Safety, Programmable Logic Controls, Blueprint Reading, and Welding.

Wisdom Land: A Free Franchise Opportunity For Every Corner of the World.

We Need Brain Power Clubs To Make the World Wise.

Emotionally Healthy Brains Will Make the World Wise; Full of Health, Happiness, Prosperity and Peace.

Wisdom Education is Brain Health Education; Where Wisdom Land is a Start...

Our Education System Has Cutting Edge Mind Education While Brain Education Is Under the Radar Screen.

Wisdom Education is Brain Health Education; Where Wisdom Land is a Start...

Wisdom Springs From Emotional Health.

It will bring prosperity, improved mind and brain health; transforming messed up neighborhoods into areas of health, happiness, peace and prosperity.

By Creating A Whole New Wisdom Industry We Can Create A New World Full Of Happiness, Health, Prosperity and Peace.”

— Sajid Khan: Wisdom/EI Are the Smoke Where Emotional Health is the Fire.

RIDGEFIELD PARK, NEW JERSEY, UNITED STATES, March 9, 2017 / — The world is suffering simply because our experts do not know the difference between brain and mind and as a result, they take the brain and mind as just the mind. So we have Mind education and Brain education lumped together as the single entity of Mind education. Not only is brain education ignored and neglected we miseducate the brain.

It is the quality of brain education that determines wisdom and emotional intelligence and it is brain education that is messed up! No wonder our whole society is messed up! From ancient times Human Nature has remained more or less as fundamentally animal in nature as ever because while mind education has improved by leaps and bounds brain education has remained as stagnant as ever. The time has come for our leaders and our experts to wake up to the clear path of a wise society by way of brain education.

Just imagine by taking up brain education we will be taking up wisdom education; as wisdom springs from emotional health that is generated by an emotionally healthy brain. In fact, there is this huge opportunity to not only introduce brain education our leaders can launch this whole newer Wisdom Industry. This wisdom industry will create a wise society along with the creation of new lines of jobs, prosperity, happiness, health and even peace. Can you even imagine two wise nations going to war against each other?

From crime, corruption, hatred, prejudice, fear, unhappiness, restlessness, sleeplessness, to drug addiction and poverty; it is all a byproduct of emotionally challenged brains.

I am suggesting Wisdom Lands be created in every corner of the world. This will not only bring a huge amount of jobs into every neighborhood due to newly minted Wisdom Industry related professions like Brain Cleaners, Happiness Seminar Leaders, Wise Parenting Inspectors cum Instructors etc. It will also bring prosperity and improved mind and brain health and as a result, it will transform messed up neighborhoods into areas of health, happiness, peace and prosperity

We can start with small scale Brain Power Clubs and Wisdom Restaurants popping up in every neighborhood around the world. I am making this franchise free. If you are interested please email me at for specific details.

Let me explain a 'Wisdom Resturant'.

In the center will be the kitchen surrounded by a glass wall. All around there will be tables for the customers. On the four sides of the seating area, there will be four giant screens. The four sides will be depicting life as generated by a -2, -1, +1, and +2 brain respectively. At different times there will be Ted Talk like lectures and seminars explaining, Wise Parenting, Wisdom, Happiness, Restlessness, Humility, Depression etc. For instance, Wisdom and Emotional Intelligence will be explained as Emotional Health and there will be lectures on how to enable Emotional Health. There will be shows in the kitchen on healthy cooking and healthy eating habits.

There can be other versions of restaurants. Four different restaurant formats as follows:

The kitchen in the center surrounded by glass walls with a different restaurant on each side where every customer can see every other customer in all four restaurants. One restaurant will be based on the means of -2 minds/brains (young students with failing grades or those who chose to experience -2 brain level life). Food will be served as in soup kitchens. People will be served standing in line; their choice of food will be limited. When they enter the restaurant they will have to stand in line and wait for a few minutes. They will even have to stand in line for the bathroom.

One restaurant will be a fast food restaurant that will be for -1 brain level; where the food again will be limited. They will again have to stand in line.

One restaurant will be for +1 brain level; where customers will be served by waiters. There will be a wide variety of food.

One restaurant will be for +2 brain level where customers will get to order custom food and every customer will have deluxe services served by 2 waiters.

In one version actual homeless people can be served free meals in the -2 level restaurant. In return for having their brains healed/cleaned. In the -1 restaurant the customers can be given free meals in return for part time work and for having their brains healed by attending seminars that will be shown on the giant screens.

Same with +1 customers.

In another version, all customers can be tested and given their brain level grades.

There is only one condition all those who come together to work on this will be shareholders. One person or a small group cannot own it all, though those who invest more can get a larger share. It has to be a crowd funded venture.

The possibilities for creating a wise society along with jobs and wealth are limitless. Are you up to it?

History Publishing Company Moves into Historical Fiction

John Raffensperger, Distinguished Author

HPC launches fiction with "Hey! Don't Hang My Friend" a novel in tradition of "The Adventures Huckleberry Finn' and "To Kill a Mockingbird."

John Raffensperger has written a book that should be required reading in every American classroom”

— Donagh Bracken

PALISADES, NY, UNITED STATES, March 8, 2017 / — History Publishing Company LLC a traditional publisher with three imprints focusing on non-fiction history is expanding into historical fiction..Adding two imprints, HPC for traditional historical novels, and Today’s Titles for contemporary conflict.

Initiating HPC’s step into fiction is "Hey! Don’t Hang My Friend" a novel written in the tradition of Harper Lee’s "To Kill a Mockingbird" and Mark Twain’s "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn," by author and surgeon John Raffensperger. .
The author, a prolific writer, has written two hundred fifty articles on medical surgery, medical history, and other medical related subjects. Additionally, he wrote seventeen books published by J.P. Lippincott, Little Brown and Co. and several other publishing firms. His move into fiction, determined by his self assessment, was a natural consequence of his intellectual curiosity and interest in history. The resulting book was a combination of dramatic storyline and character development.

'John Raffensperger has written a book that should be required reading in every American classroom,” said Publisher Donagh Bracken. “He has given the reader a new American classic, a result of his intellectual depth and literary skill. We at History Publishing are honored to have him join the ranks of our distinguished authors. ”

"Hey! Don’t Hang My Friend" is about a boy who takes on the Klan in the post Civil War era and, in so doing, develops into adulthood and finds his direction in life. It was written in the first person and like the exploits of Scout in “To Kill a Mockingbird" and Huck Finn in " The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" each chapter appears to offer a new experience for the young man in his dealings with the dynamics of the time.

History Publishing Company will publish "Hey! Don’t Hang My Friend" electronically and distribute it to eleven portals in the United States, Canada, England, Australia, Republic of Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Argentina, Brazil and Mexico in its Global Outreach Program. When the book garners fifteen hundred unit sales it will then be published in either soft cover or hardcover depending on the market. Distribution then will be through traditional bookstore channels as well as the continuation of the Global Outreach Program. History Publishing Company, a traditional publisher with many award winning books in the title back list issues monthly statements and corresponding royalties.
