Moulton, Alabama – Pam K. Crumpton is an HR Training Specialist with YKTA (Y-tec Keylex Toyotetsu Alabama, Inc.) in Madison, AL, where she brings together nearly three decades of experience in education with a continued passion for learning, development, and helping others build meaningful careers. After retiring from teaching in 2024, Pam transitioned into a position in the renewable energy manufacturing industry, beginning a new professional chapter focused on community outreach, education, and workforce readiness. In July 2026, Pam was offered a position as an HR Training and Development Specialist with YKTA.
In her current role with YKTA, Pam works with the HR Training team to help design, organize, and conduct training programs to advance team member and leader skills, knowledge, and expand capabilities. She was excited to find out she would be working with the FAME program at local colleges. The Alabama Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (F.A.M.E.) Program partners students with industry while they take classes at select community colleges. The goal is for students to gain valuable employment experience with manufacturing leaders while also completing their associate degree. The FAME program takes Pam back to her roots of career technical education, when her own students had opportunities to interview for those positions.
For Pam, one of the most rewarding aspects of her work is creating meaningful connections between people and opportunities for professional growth. She takes pride in supporting associates as they develop within the organization into higher-level roles. “Working at YKTA means being part of a company that invests in team member growth. Pam’s educational background reflects her longstanding commitment to mathematics, technology, and learning. She earned a Master of Science in Mathematics from Montana State University-Bozeman after completing a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a minor in Psychology from Athens State University. She also holds a Short Term Certificate in Electronics Technology and certification in Secondary Education for Grades 6-12.
Before entering workforce development, Pam spent many years in education, beginning as a mathematics teacher before transitioning into career and technical education. In that setting, she specialized in electronics and robotics, giving her an opportunity to combine academic instruction with practical technical skills. Before retiring, Pam was honored to be named one of the 2024 Association for Advancing Automation (A3) top 5 educators. Her transition into manufacturing has allowed her to continue using her technical background while helping others understand the career possibilities available for them.
Pam attributes her success primarily to hard work, honesty, and strong relationships. She believes consistently showing up, remaining committed to responsibilities, and putting in the effort required in both education and workforce development have been essential to her growth. Integrity is equally important to her, particularly when it comes to making decisions that are ethical, transparent, and aligned with doing what is right. She also values collaboration, trust, and mutual respect, recognizing that meaningful professional relationships create opportunities to learn, grow, and positively impact others.
The career advice that has stayed with Pam throughout her journey is simple: do what makes you happy. She believes that when a person finds happiness in what they do, the specific career path matters less because fulfillment and success can go hand in hand. This perspective has helped guide her through significant transitions, including her move from education into industry.
Pam also encourages young women entering manufacturing to learn everything they can about their industry. While she recognizes that the field can be challenging and that women remain underrepresented across manufacturing careers, she believes knowledge, strength, and perseverance can help women establish themselves and pursue opportunities for advancement. At the same time, she emphasizes the importance of maintaining a work-life balance. Taking time for themselves and not becoming lost in a professional path are important parts of sustaining fulfillment.
Longer hours have been one adjustment Pam has experienced since moving from education into manufacturing, but she sees substantial opportunities for growth within her current industry. She points to potential pathways in team leadership, human resources, safety, environmental health and safety, quality, and manufacturing operations. Her perspective is that opportunities are available for those who have the qualifications and are willing to continue learning.
At the center of Pam’s approach, both professionally and personally, are honesty and a desire to help others. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and watching her seven grandchildren grow. She also enjoys seeing her retired husband pursue the things he enjoys. Family remains one of Pam’s greatest sources of happiness.
Through her transition from mathematics educator to technical education specialist and now to a training and development specialist, Pam continues to dedicate herself to learning and to helping others discover what they can achieve. Her career reflects a commitment to education that has evolved with each new chapter, allowing her to support students, associates, and communities while contributing to opportunities within manufacturing.
